About Michele

Michele Gorcey, mental health therapist, mom of 3 kids and a dog, started painting in 2021 during the pandemic, as a way to sort out her own feelings. With her early gouache mini paintings, she created “eunoiacards”(yoo-noy-‘ah), a greeting card company. Her goal was to bring joy to others and show them they are not alone. Her greeting card paintings emphasize the importance of being yourself.

As a self -taught “naive” artist without formal training she uses acrylic, pastel, house paint, ink, crayons. cardboard, repurposed canvas and wood. Her art process is intuitive and unplanned and filled with a playful and expressive energy. Michele’s art is colorful, bold and whimsical.

“My favorite way to start a painting is to just throw paint on a canvas and see where it goes. For me, painting is a way to feel free.”

Michele loves to travel and collect “street art” from artists in other countries and this greatly influences her own work. Michele’s work can be seen at several galleries and shops throughout San Diego.
